Patricia Ayres makes anthropomorphic, totemic sculptures working with the physicalities of different fabrics, wrapping and joining them to create bodily-like structures. She brings materials and hardware from the fashion industry into her artwork resulting in a practice that focuses on stories of isolation, separation, and confinement.

Patricia Ayres (b. New York) lives and works in New York USA. She completed a BFA at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, Brooklyn and an MFA in Sculpture from Hunter College, City University of New York. She has exhibited internationally with recent solo exhibitions including Bound at Matthew Brown Gallery, Los Angeles. Recent group shows include This Basic Asymmetry at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara; and Safe Word at Fragment Gallery, Moscow.
