The Visitors Book, responds to the more recent history of Tattershall Castle and is inspired by the discovery of the original Visitors Book in the archives of Tattershall Castle. The book dates from when the building first opened its doors to the public on the 8 August 1914 following it’s rescue and restoration by Lord Curzon. The Visitors Book was kept in the Guard House, and every visitor was required to enter their name and address, before a ticket of admission could be issued. It now stands as a record of all the people who came from near and far, to have the first glimpse of this magnificent historic monument in it’s restored glory The names of the 660 people who visited Tattershall Castle between 8 and 23 August 1914 are read out and quietly played back into the rooms in which they walked for the first time in hundreds of years.
