About this work
Veldkamp had wanted to paint close-ups of hands or feet, and had also wanted to paint a bubble bath - in the end he decided to combine the two. This work shows feet and hands in a sea of bubbles. Within the bubbles we see reflections of various scenes and tropical landscapes. Veldkamp uses reflections in water, as well as windows and mirrors, in order to reveal more to the viewer and to add another dreamlike dimension to his work.
